DHH Panel Products recently got involved in a shopfitting project at a Transport Museum in Suffolk. Hop aboard, and let us tell you more about this brilliant charitable project…
The East Anglia Transport Museum (EATM) is based in Carlton Colville, Lowestoft. It’s the countries’ most easternly transport museum, where visitors can ride on trams, trolleybuses and a light railway. Alongside its exhibits, there’s also road buses, steamrollers and classic vehicles.~~
After a record-breaking visitor attendance in 2025; the museum made a decision to expand its gift shop on Tramway Avenue. A much larger space would enable the shop to diversify its offering. Moving forward, the shop wouldn’t just be a gift shop – but also a Model Shop and Bookshop for transport enthusiasts.
We donated a large quantity of our Okoume Marine Plywood to assist with the project. The Museum used this as wall panelling across the outer interior walls. It also formed the walls for the new stockroom. Additionally, EATM made us aware of possible damp within the structure. It was therefore sensible to recommend a decent MR Class3/WBP plywood product.
Known for its structural and moisture resistant properties, our range of Okoume products are both CE2+ rated and meet BS1088 standards. This versatile product can also be used outdoors (as long as the product edges have been sealed correctly).
The Museum’s own volunteers prepared and installed the panels themselves; and undertook the majority of the expansion work. In March 2026, the shop expansion was officially finished.
This expansion will help EATM raise more funds each year from visitors. The shops’ proceeds go towards the running costs of the Museum, plus also the many restoration projects taking place across the site. DHH Panel Products wishes EATM luck with the upcoming season.
